In this year when Romania had the biggest rock concerts ever, ARTmania Festival gathers on the main stage six big names. Six bands playing for the first time here, the fifth edition of the festival, four metal bands, two famous names in the world and only one chance: 13-15 August 2010.
Well known international artists will perform for the first time in Romania. ARTmania starts on Friday before the sunset with riffs from the Finnish band Swallow The Sun. Kamelot fans have now to opportunity to see their dream come true: Roy Khan and his American crew will sing in the Large Square of Sibiu. “the sisters of mercy”, one true legend, comes from the shadows of time in a fairy land: Transylvania, Friday, 13.
Saturday night loud music will be heard. The Norwegians from Sirenia are coming at ARTmania Festival 2010, alongside with Ailyn, their charming Iberic princess. Dark Tranquillity, the Metal kings from Gothenburg, will play “Misery’s Crown” and “Shadow in our Blood” on the Large Square stage. “Elect The Dead” or the first solo album from the voice of System Of A Down, Serj Tankian, will be heard in Sibiu. On top of the Rock music colored with one unique classical orchestration, Serj Takian is asking questions in the audience minds and impresses everyone with his voice. One exquisite show is taking place in the middle of the hottest month of the year in one city close to the Făgăraș, Cindrel and Lotrului Mountains: Saturday, 14 August 2010, Large Square, Sibiu.
For the the System Of A Down fans Serj Tankian is coming with his first Solo Album called “Elect The Dead”. Right from the top of the musical charts, Serj Tankian is arriving in Romania at the right time, not after decades of waiting, as usually happens with greatest world artists in our beautiful country. Alongside with The F.C.C., Serj Tankian is now preparing for the Sonisphere concert in Finland where he will share the day on stage with HIM, Alice in Chains and Volbeat for 60.000 people. The same concert will be heard in the Large Square of Sibiu on the 14 August.
“the sisters of mercy” are singing from the ’80 and had written an important chapter in the history of contemporary music. For the SOM music lovers, the concert in the Large Square might get on a personal top chart for this year events and for the ones who recognize the rhythms of “Temple of Love”, “Vision Thing” and “Dominion” will be a great night. Pioneers of the last two decades music, the British artists are hard to be placed in specific musical genre. Having a Drum Machine instead of a drum set, one bass, one guitar and one voice, “the sisters of mercy” will close the first day of the festival with great music.
Kamelot is one of the metal’s unique, influential and prestigious acts to come along in decades. The group’s reputation among fans and media alike, is marked by enthusiasm as well as esteem, each of their seven studio albums to date surpassing its predecessor in terms of songwriting and production. Musically, Kamelot combine different styles, which they blend into their own homogenous, distinctive trademark. Youngblood said: “We play power metal as much as progressive metal and gothic metal.” Kamelot will have a concert on 6 August at Waken Festival in Germany; on 13 August in Romania and after this gig they will fly to Sziget Festival in Budapest.
Dark Tranquillity offers an intense musical experience, bearing the mark of the natives’ Scandinavian roots. Their elevated music style was personalized and refined in over 20 years of metal experience and a great amount of studio productions. In Flames and Dark Tranquillity are the kings of metal from Sweden. Together, this bands created a new musical sound called Gothenburg Metal, a subgenre of metal which combines the melody of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM) with the intensity of death metal. Dark Tranquillity comes in 2010 at ARTmania Festival.
Sirenia sounds like a mixture of gothic metal and rock with classical influences, in addition to some elements from more extreme metal genres. Morten Veland formed Sirenia in January 2001. Morten’s musical work was already well known through his work with his former band Tristania, a band he co-founded back in the mid nineties that played at ARTmania Festival 2009. The four artists from Sirenia will meet with their fans on August the 14th, 2010, 19:00 in The Large Square of Sibiu, Romania.
Their music is complex and rich in imagery and message. At times romantic, sad or aggressive, Swallow the Sun cannot be overlooked in the doom and melodic scenes. With four studio recordings, the band continuously refines its style and likes to experiment with new sounds. For the first STS album, the famous Kerrang Magazine granted 5k and Inferno Magazine gave the best debut album statement. The Mourning Never Came had a lot of positive reviews from critics saying that STS is a genius band; they will open ARTmania Festival 2010.
