The 9th ARTmania Festival edition will take place between the 4th and 10th of August 2014 with the main concerts rocking during the weekend. The Main Stage rises this year inside the Balanta Halls Facility under the spell of “ARTmania Vampires’ Den” with bands like Therion and Eluveitie, while the Large Square stage will be hosting free access concerts for the general public. Likewise, the interior court of the Brukenthal Palace (The Large Square) and The Yard of the Altemberger House (The History Museum) will be hosting concerts with special access.
Starting this year, ARTmania Festival writes new chapters for the story that was born within the medieval city of Sibiu and will offer music lovers, for the very first time, four stages. The core of the festival attendees will have the opportunity to hide from sunlight in “ARTmania Vampires’ Den”, where their most loved world renowned bands will rock during the weekend.
“ARTmania Vampire’s Den” will be hosting on Friday night an Eluveitie performance. The story of Eluveitie started in Switzerland, in the winter of 2002, when the founding member Chrigel Glanzmann decided to form a band that unites melodic death metal and folk, thus igniting a new era called folk metal. Their story has been unfolding before our eyes for 12 years and in 2014 they will play for the very first time at the ARTmania Festival.
The main stage shall be hosting one of the most beloved bands of the ARTmania public on Saturday, 9th of August 2014. Enchanting us for more than 26 years, Therion is the band that needs to be rediscovered each time, just like each new album is a challenge to the audience’s perception of their music.
ARTmania Acoustic Stage is continuing with the same setup as last year in the Brukenthal Palace – Large Square. During this year’s edition, music lovers will enjoy at least one legendary musical act on Thursday evening, according to the tradition set in 2013 by the Deine Lakaien concert – one of the most appreciated events of the previous edition.
ARTmania Post Rock Stage will be promoting the most appreciated post-rock acts during the weekend, in the History Museum – Altemberger House.
The Large Square Stage is ticket-free in 2014, promoting notorious Romanian rock bands. The first confirmation comes from Zdob & Zdub, which will make the Large Square sound as loudly as possible on Saturday night. The band combines hard-core and Romanian/Moldavian folklore in a unique and elegant manner offering a spectacular live show to the audience – we might as well call them ethno-rockers. By combining elements from hip hop, drum ‘n’ bass, jungle and punk they create an original musical cross over where the urban intensity and rural spirit meet.
For the festival’s Main Stage, “ARTmania Vampires’ Den”, there will only be full passes available, without the option of purchasing individual day tickets; this condition was imposed by the limited available space. Visitors from other countries than Romania may acquire passes through the shop.artmania.ro platform.
